Painting in Italy

Painting is at times a never ending journey of hopefully improving while working and studying your craft. Attending workshops with talented instructors can greatly speed up the learning, and if you can also enjoy your surroundings all the better. With this in mind I went to stay at an old farmhouse in Tuscany for 8 days this September. It was a landscape painting workshop with some amazing food and wine. Taught by Marc Dalessio and taught and hosted by Daniela Astone. You can see her location at http://www.studiochianti.com. A few of the pieces I did there are below.

I haven’t been outside to paint yet this summer so I’ll have to post a couple from last year to start off with. Lake Abraham from near Nordegg AB and in the Athabaska River valley in Jasper Park. Oil on canvas on board, 9 x 12″.

Portrait of Leaha

I recently attended a great workshop with Martinho Correia and Mike Sass. This is the result of almost a weeks labour. Probably would have been faster if people had quit buying donuts.
